Disruptive changes at technological, environmental and economic level are posing major challenges to institutions, firms and their leaders: climate change, digital transformation and its multifaceted impact on employment, skills, organizations, or the increasing unequal distribution of resources and future opportunities across people with different age or gender or living in different geographical area. These trends are already showing their effects and are posing a great responsibility on management studies, that have to find adequate theoretical models and methodological approaches for a responsible research to better describe new processes as they unfold, understand problems at different levels and illuminate sustainable and ethical solutions.

Doctoral programs in Management and Business play a pivotal role, aiming at developing a pool of young and inspired researchers that could contribute to address these major challenges, either as academics or as leaders of research centers, private and public companies, consulting firms.  Doctoral programs are thus induced to take steps to become excellent learning environment and nurture a new generation of researchers by crossing geographic boundaries through international networking, by creating opportunities for cross-fertilisation between disciplines and by exposing students to industry and public engagement.

How could we build better doctoral programs crossing geographical and cultural boundaries through international collaborations? Which interdisciplinary teaching programs help to develop research projects that could grasp the new phenomena? Which institutions should doctoral programs collaborate with to enrich the capacity of young scholars to raise the relevance of their research?

These are the questions the EDAMBA Annual Meeting & General Assembly, held by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, will addresses. Venice, with the unique environment of the lagoon, its history of openness toward far reaching countries and its bridges connecting arts and businesses within the city, it’s a perfect metaphor of the Annual Meeting theme.

Participants that belongs to different countries and universities and lead a diverse set of high quality doctoral programs, members of EDAMBA, will share ideas and experiences enjoying a spectacular venue. Two keynotes speakers, professor Alfons Sauquet of ESADE and professor Stefano Brusoni of ETH will provided the insights to spark an inspiring and fruitful discussion.
