LEADERSHIP IN ORGANIZATIONS

Leadership is more a topic than a field. Multiple perspectives, from more psychological to more sociological, try to grasp this very elusive phenomenon. Given the time available, we will focus mostly
on studying the construct of leadership at a more macro organizational level.

The course deals with the essentials of the topic, not with the latest productions on it, and aims at helping the participants in becoming critical consumers of academic work on leadership and creative
producers, if willing, of scholarly work in this most challenging domain.

Doctoral studies in management and economics
at the Warsaw School of Economics

We are proud to present a new and innovative doctoral program taught entirely in English. The program will offer doctoral degrees in economics or management. It will last 4 years starting September 2010. During the 1st and 2nd year of studies doctoral candidates will participate in an intensive curriculum of lectures and workshops split into five thematic blocks: research methodology, economics and sociology, international management, doctoral skills development and ethics. 3rd and 4th year of studies will be entirely focused on preparation of doctoral dissertation based on work with individually assigned supervisors and specialization committees.

Due to financial support from the European Union structural funds the first edition of studies is entirely tuition-free and full-time students are eligible for scholarship. Admission is open for both Polish and international students.

The BALAS Conference will be held at ESADE Business School in Barcelona on March 24-26, 2010 and it should be of interest to all faculty members and PhD students interested in Latin American business topics.
In its 26 years of existence, this will be the second time The Business Association of Latin American Studies (BALAS) will hold its Annual Conference outside the Americas. The BALAS Conference is an excellent opportunity for those in Europe which have an academic interest in the Latin American region to contribute and become members of the BALAS network.
