Doctoral program at EDAMBA
Apr 8, 2021

A Doctoral degree is a terminal degree, meaning it is the highest level possible of all the degrees available in their specific field. A Doctorates degree can be either an applied or research-based degree as it is usually beneficial for learners who already hold a master's in one particular degree.

Doctoral studies aim to endow students with extensive developed training in research techniques. This also involves preparing and presenting a doctoral thesis, which needs to be original research work. EDAMBA's main motive is to develop and secure the highest standards in doctoral education in the fields of management and business studies:

  • To provide a European and worldwide network of doctoral programmes to exchange information and discuss ideas among doctoral directors, programs, and schools.
  • To develop, improve and promote best practices through codes of conduct of the highest order.
  • By offering a global platform to facilitate our members' collaborative efforts and enable new research and practice initiatives across borders.
  • By helping participating students in doctoral programs worldwide to continuously advance their traits and achieve excellence by building on a European tradition of collective dialogues.
  • These dialogues are used to generate global reflections on diversity, the public and moral responsibility of doctoral supervisors, social and humanistic aims, personal sensibilities, and publicity of intellectual capacities.

How Does EDAMBA Enhance The Quality Of Doctoral Education?

1. Expertise

Worldwide Network of Doctoral Programmes at EDAMBA aims to provide young post-doctorate students and practitioners with an opportunity to update and upgrade their business administration and management training with a wide range of expertise and guidance.

2. Summer Research Academy

EDAMBA is a specially curated concept that is aimed at doctoral students in the management and business sciences. The summer research academy's sole aspiration is for students to develop an independent intellectual identity through discussions and presentations at the academy. Every year different themes and locations and various workshops are selected for students to gain more exposure.

3. Global Connections:

At EDAMBA, we strive to provide more than just a primary education source and knowledge to students enrolled. Our network of doctoral programmes offers students with global connections right from:

  • AACSB and EDAMBA, the European Doctoral Association in Management and Business Administration, have collaborated to take a more in-depth look into the variability, innovations and strategic shifts occurring within global business doctoral programs.
  • The EQUAL guidelines for doctoral programmes have been developed in agreement with the 'Salzburg Principles' established on the European Code of Practice for Doctoral Studies in Management and Business. The European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) and the European Doctoral programmes Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA) jointly created this concept.

4. Doctoral Supervision

It is becoming quite challenging for most institutions to deliver management education at the doctoral level for doctoral supervision. The evolution of a global market for recruiting faculty members makes the essence of doctoral supervision in management, doctoral education and business studies a significant dread for decades ahead. EIASM and EDAMBA both have extensive experience in doctoral training, so with mutual understanding, we join forces to create a space of change, communication and training. Students can benefit the most from the quality education we strive to deliver with the assistance of our potential supervisors of institutions.
